Collaboration is a vital way for all humans to work together. Sissiboo Coffee Bar + Gallery was the first public venue in the village of Bear River to offer year-round rotating art exhibition opportunities for local artists. They have introduced emerging and professional artists as well as local primary school exhibits to a broad public. It cannot be understated what a springboard this has been for artists looking for an opportunity to share their work. It has allowed viewers to experience the rich diversity of visual art and craft in our area of South West Nova Scotia and to do so in a casual unexpected way.
Kelli Janson
Bear River Artworks Gallery is deeply honoured to be the first Gallery group to be offered a showing at both Sissiboo Coffee locations in Bear River and Annapolis Royal, NS this winter of 2023.
Gary Fraser
We lucked in by moving our Gallery next door to Sissiboo Coffee at the start of the pandemic. The title of our show Friendly Neighbours, reflects our affection towards our Gallery’s next door neighbour. They have been our supporters as we are of them.
Crystal Pyne
Friendly Neighbours displays the work of 3 painters (Kelli Janson, Crystal Pyne and Flora Doehler) and 1 photographer (Gary Fraser).
Please visit our website to see more of our work. Our physical gallery is closed until May, but we are open ‘virtually’ and can arrange a personal visit to the collection.
